Note on voting:
Town Poll is a positive environment, any negative comments should be handled with neutral verbage or they may not be posted on the site. People do have bad experiences and we need to include them so if this were the case the best way to let everyone know is to post a vote and select "1" as your vote and explain nicely. We believe that problems can be fixed and miscommunication exists in such a busy world so we provide a unique option – the CUSTOMER LINK button located at the end of every vote allows the business owner, only, to communicate anonymously with any voter. If any voter feels like changing their vote they may log in and edit it. All comments are posted for 6 months, votes are kept for the life of the listing to calculate the rank on a page. If a voter decides to change their vote/comment before the end of 6 months the new vote will replace the old. If the Comment and Vote expire before a customer chooses to edit it, they can simply vote again with a more or less positive vote that will average against the previous vote. Keep in mind, there are no negative ratings, the worst is "0". If you see "0" or no red bar this can mean a few things... the business was just posted and there are no votes, the business simply has no votes yet, or the business have all votes at "0". There are a few keys to understanding this. We post the date the listing was added and the amount of votes they had since that date.
Note on the listing order:
TownPoll's default order is based on vote relevance with an option to view alphabetically. This way you can see all highest rated businesses in the results of a search first. If you had a specific business in mind and knew the name you could select VIEW ALPHABETICALLY to find the listing more easily. The default order is based on a relevancy formula we developed specifically for Town Poll. The listings with the highest ratings come first. Listings with the same rating are organized with a formula incorporating the amount of votes and the listing date.
